Studio Landscapes: Drawing with Paint

Working from outdoor-inspired environments within the comfort of the studio, utilising flowers, patterned materials, and linens, students will develop landscape or floral paintings from these setups. Participants will gain valuable skills in observational drawing, expressive drawing, and experimental use of various materials to understand composition through the use of colour and shape. To inspire and inform their projects, students will explore the works of notable artists such as Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot, Joan Mitchell, and Hayley Barker. A wide selection of art books featuring these and other influential artists will be available, allowing students to select an artist that resonates with their personal project goals. This course emphasises a hands-on, experimental approach to learning. Students will engage in both structured exercises and open-ended explorations, encouraging them to develop their unique artistic voice. The course fosters an engaging and focused environment where students are encouraged to experiment, make bold choices, and fully realise their creative potential.
